What is all the fuss over states that pass voter photo identification requirements? Why not solve the question the obvious, simple way? Photograph voters and their ID’s as they sign in to vote at the polls.
Compare the ease and low cost of digital cameras to all the time, money, and rancor states have spent on legislation and litigation.
There is still time to implement this approach for the upcoming election. If necessary, we could use cell phones to take and email the pictures to a secure, election-record, email box. Name & number, dates and times; the emails show who appeared at which polls, and when. If anyone wishes to challenge or review who voted, they can do so from the emails and pictures.
Furthermore, this method costs individual voters nothing, and violates no one’s rights. The polling place is a public space which requires no permission to take photographs. If deterrence of voter fraud is the intent, nothing works better than photos.
